Nine Novel Facts to Know About Denizen - Elizabethtown, KY

Updated: Mar 23, 2019

I haven’t shared much about our sweet town of Elizabethtown lately, but I was finishing out a roll of film last week and happened to drop by Denizen’s new location on East Dixie to pick up a thank you gift. The word denizen actually means an inhabitant or resident of a particular place, and the new location’s residents have infused it with whimsy and one-of-a-kind items sure to impress. The images are shot on 35mm film by yours truly and I'm not a photographer by any means, but I hope you get the idea of just how fabulous the shop is.

Here's what you need to know:

  1. Denizen is owned by sisters Olivia and Catherine, Elizabethtown locals. Originally located on Poplar Street, the shop has a NEW, larger location at 331 East Dixie Avenue, Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42701.

  2. The shop offers a fabulous array of plants and pots perfect for anyone with a green thumb. Their selection is comparable to what you would find in any big-city plant shop, but their pricing is in line the small town address.

  3. If giving gifts is your love language, Denizen might just be your new favorite shop. Overflowing with so many fun gifts, I’m betting you’ll find the perfect present for the lady friends and family members in your life.

  4. Decor galore—whether it’s throw pillows, coffee table books or even welcome mats, there is something for you.

  5. Local creatives Paperwolf Ceramics and Hip South came together on a wonderful pottery collaboration now available at Denizen.

  6. While home goods are the primary ware sold in Denizen, you can also find unique boutique clothing, scarves and jewelry.

  7. Did you know flower subscriptions are a thing? Yeah, so they are. Olivia and Catherine have gorgeous monthly floral arrangement subscriptions available.

  8. Their upstairs space is soooo cute and it is available for rent for parties of all kinds. The space is a good fit for baby showers, bridal luncheons and birthdays.

  9. I know a thing or two about flowers and these lovely ladies are killing it at the wedding flower game in ETown. Their work has a beautiful, bohemian style with lots of texture and dry elements.
